Who's behind this?

Battered Economy started as a joke about a chippy that put its prices up twice in one year, and turned into an actual dataset. We track what a portion of fish & chips really costs, shop by shop, receipt by receipt — because the inflation numbers never seem to agree with the queue outside our local.

Every price on the map comes from a real receipt, checked by us. We take fish very seriously and, best of all, we love fish and chips.

Got a photo of your food, the shop front, or the queue out the door? Add it to any chippy's page — it's the best way for someone else to see exactly what they're getting before they go. Henry and I would love nothing more than to travel the globe trying some of your finds in person.
